We crave the sensory experience of matter transformed, heat on our skin, fire dancing in the eyes of a lover, it's cathartic & perennial. We believe science & design can preserve that experience without greenhouse gasses. Blue globe's visual metaphor of the continents burning will highlight the immediacy of the looming climate catastrophe but that's too on the nose by itself. The intention is to achieve the burn sustainably, expanding the definition of LNT past just picking up garbage. Being a part of a self reliant community that embraced LNT changes how we think about the impact of people gathering. This community is micro-cosim, the first step towards a LNT society.  Maybe just like LNT has party people picking up after themselves.  That expanded definition could inspire the community to use solar in our camps. Change in this community & the world doesn't involve going backwards. Preserving the experiences we love will require ingenuity, experimentation, & ideas of a novel design.

Blue Globe is 25' diameter scale representation of the planet with continents made of fine iron strands. When a electrical current is applied the iron burns creating a visual metaphor for the eminent climate disaster.  The burn releases no CO2, drawing attention to the problem with out adding to it.

Originally slated to be brought to playa 2020 the project has been hosted on the Mysticverse platform for the virtual burn.
